Frithjof Marthinsen (1908-1973), and his wife Mina.

Frithjof was known as a talented designer and a first-class professional. He is educated at the Norwegian School of Arts and Crafts in Oslo and was the 3rd generation Th. Marthinsen after his father and grandfather. His artistic attitude and good sense of aestetics resulted in a strongly personal and dedicated business.

His own efforts, as well as his sure assessment of the work skills of others, strengthened the reputation of an artistic designbuisness of cutlery and table decor.

He designed, among other things, the Oseberg cutlery series, which has been awarded a design prize by the Norwegian Design Council.

The Oseberg cutlery series carries the classic, pure Scandinavian style. The inspiration has a clear attraction to the Oseberg ship, with its long, elegant but soft lines that are also descriptive of the cutlery series.

During the design process, Frithjof had the cutlery handle in his pocket for six months to make sure that the shape he created was as good to hold as it was to look at.
