The story begins when our great-great-grandfather and goldsmith, Mr Thorvald Marthinsen, (sitting in the middle), established his own workshop and jewellers in Tønsberg in 1883. The business quickly became noted as a local quality supplier and earned a good reputation all around the country and later worldwide. He shaped and formed a livelihood that has stood the test of time for generations.
His uncluttered, Scandinavian design lines and keen sense of form have become the hallmarks of Marthinsen silverware. Our classical models were inspired by their age and many bear historical elements reflecting the national heritage. The products have been perpetuated as an inheritance we proudly bear and curate with immense joy.
